Due to climate change, one-in-a-hundred-year floods have sadly become increasingly common. Regular flooding in Westerham, and downstream in the Darent Valley over the past decade has caused devastation – a trend seemingly set to further affect future generations.
Squerryes is in the unique position of stewarding the land around four significant tributaries of the Darent Valley. We’ve already been in touch with the Environment Agency and Kent County Council to discuss strategy and believe that we can create joy for future generations through a number of natural flood management techniques in the Valley.
